TGI Friday's Cocktail Event

*Apologies, picture heavy post*

Last Thursday, I was invited to an event at TGI Friday's in Birmingham. The night was a cocktails and art event to showcase some of TGI Friday's new cocktails. I could bring a plus one so I asked one of my best friends Siobhan to accompany me.

We were given a card for 3 complimentary cocktails each. Here are a few that we tried:

  • Popping Candy Strawberry Margarita
  • Passion fruit Bellini
  • Strawberry Shortcake
  • Purple Rain

  • We then tried some tapas which I definitely welcomed as I was a little bit hungry after a long day at work! We had the pretzel bread and dip as well as BBQ and Jack Daniel's chicken skewers which were all yummy.

A bit later, we had the chance to go behind the bar and make our own cocktail. This was interesting as you can see on instagram here:

They had arranged some cute activities to keep us entertained throughout the night. There was a man drawing caricatures (Alex Hughes) and I was the first volunteer of the night. The cocktail drawn is a 'Cherry Stag', however, I don't like cherry so gave that one a miss.

There were canvas bags and paint pens for us to design our own bags. Here's what we came up with:

I really like TGI Friday's even though I don't go too often but it's definitely one of the places where I choose to have a cocktail with my meal and after trying a variety I know which ones I'd have again!

Thanks to TGI's for inviting me!

Autumn/ Fall Outfit of the Day - OOTD

I woke up this morning with no idea what the time was as the clocks have gone back and we gain an hour. However, I don't think I made the most of this extra sleeping hour as I was awake anyway and was trying to work out which clocks had updated automatically!

    Now, onto my OOTD:

As the seasons have changed, I've done some Autumn shopping and the clothes i've picked up have all been black or burgundy/oxblood. Not purposely though! I'm just drawn towards those colours and need to let some other colours come through.

This top is one that I picked up from Vero Moda recently and they are definitely a shop that I am going to have a look in more often. Some of the pieces in there are gorgeous and bang on trend.

SMASHBOX Try It Kit, Best Sellers - Bargain

I popped into my local Boot's the other day to pick up some items for a swap that i'm taking part in and Ryan noticed this on the clearance shelf.  It is the Smashbox Try it Kit, Best Sellers. It was originally priced at £19 for £36 worth of products but had since been reduced to clear at £9.50!

I've only tried the Primer from Smashbox as it's an expensive brand and nothing had stood out dramatically before. I have a few sample sized primers that i'm working my way through already and it's definitely the best primer i've used and it doesn't affect my skin.

The small primer retails for £12 alone in Boots so I definitely couldn't go wrong by picking up this set.

    Photo Finish Foundation Primer

    Photo Finish Lid Primer

    Full Exposure Mascara

    Limitless Eyeliner in Onyx

    Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume

It's still retailing at £19 online so maybe check out the clearance shelf in your local Boot's store. There's definitely nothing wrong with my kit to make it be reduced.

Origins GinZing - All is Bright

Origins are a brand that are currently getting raved about all over the blogging world and i've finally joined the hype. After trying a sample of the GinZing Moisturiser at the Merry Hill A/W event, I knew I had to have it.

What I didn't realise was how very few places actually stock Origins products. As I have problem skin, I was also desperate to try the Out of Trouble Face Mask. The hard bit; tracking it down! All the online sites that I went on were sold out of the face mask and I didn't want to pay delivery on just the moisturiser so then, I started looking for my nearest stockist. The closest Boots to me that stock Origins is Merry Hill which is a bit too far to go so I went to House of Fraser in Birmingham.

The lady at the counter was really nice and said I would be very lucky if I was to find the Out of Trouble Mask anywhere. Booo! So if anyone knows where I can get hold of one, please let me know!

Rather than pick up the GinZing moisturiser alone, I had a look at the Christmas gifts. There are definitely some great savings to be had by picking up a gift set. A lot of them contain the Drink UP Intensive Mask which I think would be too intense for my skin, but they're all at a really good price.

I chose the Origins All Is Bright set for £30

    This contains:

    • GinZing Refreshing eye cream to brighten and depuff 5ml
    • GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer 30ml
    • GinZing Brightening mascara to lengthen and lift 14ml
    • GinZing Brightening cream eyeshadow in Sugar Peach 5ml
50ml of the GinZing moisturiser alone is £23 and 15ml of the eye cream is £23, so I'm pleased with this set as they are a good size to try out without having to buy the full sized products straight away.

The moisturiser smells delicious like oranges and I can definitely see it waking me up in a morning. It is referred to as 'a shot of espresso for tired skin'. It is a lightweight, oil free formula that hydrates an creates a radiant glow.

Update: I've used this for about a week now and so far i'm loving it! The moisturiser absorbs quickly and is a nice texture and hasn't caused any issues with my sensitive skin. The eye cream definitely brightens the eye area and you only need the tiniest amount. However, it stings if you get it in your eye! Ooops!

The cream eyeshadow is a shimmery champagne colour that you can't go wrong with and it'll be interesting to give the mascara a go as I haven't heard anything about Origins make up line before.

What do you think about the Origins range?

Glossybox October 2013 - Dark Romance

Here's a look at this month's Glossybox. It is meant to have a Dark Romance theme which got me excited as I thought there would be a few berry toned products. However, it isn't the best box ever...

    Pretty Background

    MONU Illuminating Primer - £24.95 for 50ml (20ml sample)

MONU are a brand that have featured quite a lot in previous Glossybox's and I haven't found any stand out products. I like trying out new primers though so i'll give this a whirl.

Katy Perry Killer Queen Perfume £29.50 for 50ml

We sell this fragrance where I work and originally I thought it smelt a lot like Beyonce Heat however, since smelling it more, it has come into its own. It features nodes of: dark plum, wild berry, red velvet flower and liquid praline to name a few. The bottle is a strange shape for placing on your dressing table though like a diamond with no bottom for it to stand upright.

MeMeMe Cherub Blush - Cheek & Lip Tint - £5.50 (full size)

This is the best fitting product to the Dark Romance theme, I tried it out yesterday and it creates a nice coloured lip stain. However, it slightly irritated my lips when I put it on.

Premae Harmony Smoothie Serum - £22.50 for 50ml (20ml sample)

This claims to hydrate the skin whilst soothing redness and also keeping the skin matte and shine free. I have been contemplating getting a mattifying lotion so i'll see how this goes.

Broadway Impress Nails - £7.99+ (full size)

This is my favourite item in this month's Glossybox as I am an avid user of Impress Nails already. I've used them for about 2 years now and absolutely love them. Surprisingly, this glittery french tipped set is actually one design that I haven't used before!

What do you think of this month's box?

HOUSE OF HOLLAND - Face Ache Nails by Elegant Touch

I love wearing fake nails because they always look so much better than my own. I'm known to be the one with extravagant nail art and these definitely fall into that boat.

The designer Henry Holland has collaborated with Elegant Touch to create some gorgeous fake nails for his House of Holland collection.

My lovely Ryan picked these up for me from Boots. They are the HOUSE OF HOLLAND - Face Ache Nails by Elegant Touch which retail for £8.99 (available here at Boots) and there are a variety of cool designs to choose from.

Each pack contains 24 nails, so 2 wears and a few spare. The sizing is okay but there is a giant thumb nail which is literally 2 of my thumbs so I definitely won't be using that one! They are almond shaped nails.

They claim to last 10 days but I always carry nail glue around with me just incase. Each set comes with said nail glue and a file too.

They're a quirky design and what you'd expect from House of Holland.

Here are some other examples, some of the other designs are more subtle though!

They would make a great stocking filler!

    Which ones are your favourite?
